Libeskind Synagogue

A new liberal synagogue for the Beth Shalom community is set to be built in the center of Munich. Designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, the planned structure combines modern architecture with symbolic depth.

This liberal synagogue in Munich will serve as a place for prayer, learning, and social interaction. Historically, it follows in the tradition of the main liberal synagogue; following the reconstruction of the Orthodox Ohel Jakob synagogue at St.-Jakobs-Platz and the renovation of the synagogue on Reichenbachstraße, it will thus fill the final gap left by the destruction wrought by the National Socialists.
